Thank you for standing with us to protect kids from obscene material

Congratulations on a job well done! Over the past week, thousands of phones calls were made, and emails were sent to legislators through our Action Alert center at www.JerseyVotesNo.com . The message was clear and undeniable! We oppose Senate bill 2421/Assembly bill 3446, “The Freedom to Distribute Obscene Materials to Minors Act.”

This nefarious would make teachers and librarians exempt from the New Jersey Obscenity statute, §2C:34-3 that prohibits adults from knowingly showing, exhibiting, and promoting Obscene Materials to Persons Under 18.

When we heard this bill was scheduled for the Senate Education Committee for Thursday, Feb 15, we immediately began to organize a grassroots effort to have people come to Trenton to testify against the bill. Thank you to those that signed up!

Through our non-stop advocacy efforts and in partnership with parental rights organizations across the state, the New Jersey Family Policy Center was contacted Wednesday evening at 5pm by Statehouse staff that the bill was pulled from the Senate Education Committee agenda! Praise God!

After a quick sigh of relief, our team immediately spread the word to other organizations and volunteers that the bill would not be heard by the Committee, and therefore, coming to Trenton was not necessary. However, we might need them on March 14 – the next scheduled Education Committee meeting. Please save that date on your calendar and plan to attend. We need you too!

101.5FM morning show host Bill Spadea interviewed our Director of Advocacy Shawn Hyland regarding the decision by the Senate Education Committee to pull the bill from their agenda.
