New school board members are being sworn in across the state this week, and we couldn’t be more excited for the important role they are stepping into. Their leadership has the potential to bring meaningful, lasting change to their local communities.
Serving on a school board is no small commitment. There will be late nights reviewing policies, long hours in subcommittee meetings, school events to attend, parents to hear, and students to support. Yet these responsibilities also offer opportunities to strengthen trust, elevate transparency, and champion families.
We honor and appreciate every school board member for the time and energy they dedicate to this volunteer service. Their willingness to step forward makes a real difference for New Jersey’s children and families.
New Jersey School Board Summit
One school board that drew significant attention last year was the Colts Neck Board of Education. They achieved a major milestone by passing a Parental Bill of Rights, giving moms and dads clear guidance on how to exercise their federal rights and stay informed about what is happening with their children. They were also honored with a visit from U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon in recognition of their exceptional civics curriculum.
Their journey is one worth hearing firsthand. That’s why we are inviting current school board members or those running for school board this year to a private School Board Summit on Saturday, January 31, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM in Colts Neck.

Attendees will also get an inside look at our National School Board Academy, including details about the March live cohort training, a comprehensive program equipping future and current board members with the tools, strategy, and legal understanding needed to lead effectively.
This multi‑day online training normally costs $199, but New Jersey School Board Members who attend the School Board Summit will receive a special discount code that grants free access to the full program.
