“You are those who have stood by me in my trials. And I confer on you a kingdom, just as my Father conferred one on me, so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”
(Luke 22:28-30)
These words of Jesus were no doubt powerful and encouraging to His disciples after the prior rebuke about who is greatest among them. Servant leadership and sacrificial love are as uncommon today as they were in Jesus’ day and rarely get praised and often go unnoticed.
As we enter Holy Week we can empathize with Jesus’ disciples as Jesus is led off, betrayed by one of His own, to be scourged, humiliated, and crucified. The emotions and feelings that must have gone through the disciple’s minds are the same emotions that we often experience when trying to discern God’s will. Confusion. Despair. Hopelessness. Anguish. Misunderstanding. Anger. Fear. Yet these disciples, imperfect as they are, are called to a higher mission, and Jesus gives them confidence through His word that they will ‘eat and drink at the table in my kingdom.’
The work that we do at the NJ Family Policy Center may seem daunting at times. Our current governor and so many of the progressives have little or no respect for the unborn child, parental rights, transparency in education, and are willing to physically harm, not help, adolescents who are struggling with their sexual identity. There is the temptation to despair when we start to look at the current political landscape in our Garden State.
“You are those who have stood by me in my trials.”
Be assured, we who labor in Christ at the NJFPC do not give in to despair! We know who our savior is and prayerfully advance family-friendly policy, meet with pastors and church leaders, consult with legislators, and strategize on how to advance policies that are aligned with scripture and a biblical worldview.
I believe that while God is unpredictable, He is never unfaithful! I also believe that God has raised up and will continue to raise up Ministry Partners and church congregations who also believe as we do and will stand with the NJFPC during these trials and labor to make New Jersey a State where God is honored.
Thank you for standing with us in our efforts and trials as we influence socially conservative voters in winnable legislative districts, make principled arguments to those who are politically independent, and speak truth to those who oppose us. Join us as a Ministry Partner by donating today and stand with us as we together stand with Christ. Only with your support can make New Jersey a state where God is honored, religious freedom flourishes, families thrive, and life is cherished.
Wishing you a blessed Holy Week and Easter!
